The Abbey's Seal
The Abbey's seal was collaboratively designed by the brotherhood. It is in the Vesica form, and features St. Alban and St. Æthelwold, both supporting an image of Our Lady the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Walsingham. Beneath her is the Blessing Cross of St. Sergius of Radonezh, alluding to the Russian origins of the Western Rite within Orthodoxy, and three Scottish Thistles which allude to the Abbey's location in modern day Scotland. The Cross and Thistles spring forth from stony ground, symbolic of a rebirth of religious life on the Abbey's site of Buittle Castle, despite the hardened hearts and minds of many against traditional religion today.
