Matins and Lauds - 5am
The offices of Night and Morning Prayer are said daily as a cell rule according to the Sarum Tradition.
Angelus, Sext, and Paternoster - noon
The Angelus and Sext recited, followed by two decades recitation upon the Paternoster Beads.
Vespers & Compline 6pm
The office of Vespers & Compline is said daily according to the Sarum Tradition.
Compline - 10pm
The office of Compline is sung according to the Use of Sarum in Latin. An English translation is provided.
Monastic Life
The Monastic Brotherhood of Saints Alban and Æthelwold is a community of Orthodox Professed Religious following the Regula Canonicorum. The monastics currently live in the historic Tower, and plans for hermitage style cells on the grounds of Buittle Castle, in the manner of Holy Cross Hermitage in its early days, and, indeed, the Abbey of Cluny are underway. The Brotherhood pray the Divine Office several times a day, either as a Cell Rule or in common in the Orthodox Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Undercroft, located on the ground floor of the medieval tower of the Castle. We have exciting plans for the further development of the monastic enclosure, including the construction of a new church, offering further space for the monastic community.
